COLUMBIA, MD, March 25, 2010 - Cera Products, Inc. announced today that the Greater Baltimore Committee (GBC) has awarded its "Entrepreneurial Spirit Award" to Charlene Riikonen, President & CEO, Cera Products, Inc., manufacturer of the patented rice-based oral rehydration solutions, CeraLyte® and CeraSport®, and CeraVacx® oral vaccine delivery system.
"I am honored that GBC has recognized the work of Cera Products in development, clinical studies, manufacturing and distribution of rice-based oral rehydration solutions," said Riikonen. "When the Haitian earthquake struck earlier this year, I immediately knew that our products could help prevent the dehydration that happens in the wake of such disasters. That’s why we donated 9,000 liters of product in the spirit of both entrepreneurialism and altruism for those in need in Haiti."
Cera's products are the result of extensive research and development and its core technology and formulations are patented. CeraLyte ORS prevents and corrects dehydration related to diarrheal diseases; CeraSport hydration provides energy for performance while replacing fluids and salts lost during sweat. Cera Products sponsors professional and team cyclists and triathletes, and supports the US military, police and others who are under heat and stress conditions where oral rehydration can make a significant difference in performance and effectiveness.
Cera Products are found nationally in major U.S. medical centers, including Johns Hopkins and The Mayo Clinic; all branches of the U.S. military; more than 200 travel clinics; and internationally in South Africa, Central America, and Canada. The Company expects to expand its retail distribution in key markets this coming year.
